Ultrasound Tortuosity and Characteristic Length Meter
This custom-built ultrasound tortuosity meter is capable of measuring tortuosity and characteristic lengths of a wide range of porous materials. The system uses the ultrasound transmission method and includes an air-coupled ultrasound pulser/receiver system, specimen holders, USB-DAQ and a custom-designed MATLAB-based software. The system works with disc shaped samples. To obtain viscous and thermal characteristic lengths, a two-gas method is available as an option.
